What are Musculoskeletal Injuries?
Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries that are in the muscles, nerves, tenders, or joints and can be caused in a variety of ways, especially in the workplace. Thousands of workers are affected by these injuries every day by pushing and pulling heavy items, carrying out tasks for a long period of time, reaching for things constantly, lifting heavy loads, and more.
Preventing Injuries
There are many ways in which these injuries can be prevented such as risk assessments and the correct training. It is also under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 that all employers have the responsibility to ensure the safety of their workers, and of course, musculoskeletal injuries fall under this bracket. These injuries are preventable so to avoid costly fines, ensure employees are trained on how to stay safe.
It is important to identify and point out these risks before staff performs anything which can cause musculoskeletal injuries.
